DG, ICAR addresses ICAR Trainee Scientists at ICAR-NAARM

“Innovative approaches are needed in agricultural research to achieve the goal of doubling farmers’ income by 2022 through out of the box solutions, said Dr T. Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director-General, ICAR while addressing ICAR Trainee Scientists undergoing the 106th Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FOCARS) at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad on 5 Jul 2017. He called upon the young scientists to focus on giving their best for the benefit of stakeholders and to build a system that fulfils the food and nutritional needs. He also shared the concept of the ICAR to establish a ‘Discovery Centre’ where new innovative ideas could be discussed and new technologies developed for the farmers.

Dr Ch. Srinivas Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM gave an introduction to the FOCARS 106 batch. The batch comprises of 61 trainees from 28 disciplines in the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) from across India.
