ICAR-NAARM Organizes National Science Day
National science day celebrations were organized at the ICAR- NAARM on 28th February, 2019 commemorating great contribution of noble laureate Sir C. V. Raman.
110 students from both Zilla Parishad High School, Shivarampally and Zilla Parishad High School, Budvel have participated in the celebrations. NAARM campus tour explaining about the various units like vermicompost, water harvesting pits, diff. horticulture blocks, nursery, sports, water purifying plant, and infrastructure facilities was organized. Students took keen interest on the nursery grown inside the NAARM campus. They were explained about the growing of nursery and its propagation.
On the occasion, essay and elocution competitions were conducted for school students. The elocution competition topic was: Role of science in development of society”, whereas essay writing competition topic was “who is your favourite scientist and why” for school students. Students showed enthusiasm and participated in the competition. NAARM PGDMA students have participated in elocution competition.
The closing ceremony was chaired by Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, NAARM. While addressing the students, “Science has made strides through various inventions for ease of living. But, the young generation should use technology wisely for the benefit, and should not addict to modern electronic gadgets”, he advised. He motivated the students towards science, and also explained about the importance of farmers and agriculture for the nation. One should minimize the usage of plastic for the better environment, he advocated.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr S. K. Soam, Jt. Director explained about the importance of science in day to day life. How it is helpful to people. Sir also spoke about agriculture and how youth should look to it. He also spoke about trade.
Later the prizes were distributed to the winners of the respective events by Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director and Dr S.K. Soam, Joint Director. The NAARM faculty members, students of PGDMA also participated in the event which was organized by Smt G. Aneeja, ACTO.
