ICAR Research Managers Complete Executive Development Programme on Leadership Development at ICAR-NAARM

Eight ICAR Directors and two ICAR Joint Directors who were newly appointed in the Research Management Position (RMP) completed the 11th Executive Development Programme on ‘Leadership Development’ at the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management from 28 Jul to 1 Aug 2017.
Dr T. Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director-General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi interacted with them on 1 Aug 2017. He said “A Director has to inspire and motivate. Every Director has to evolve a functional system through self-study to provide direction and leadership. He has to lead from the front and set an example.” Dr Mohapatra also spoke on charting new paths to face the current challenges facing agriculture.
Shri C. Roul, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR spoke on “Institutional Management and Accountability and Conflict Management.” He also distributed the certificates.
Shri S.K. Singh, Additional Secretary, DARE and Financial Adviser, ICAR gave an outline of the current policies on financial allocations for research.
The EDP also had lectures on ‘Priority Setting, Monitoring and Evaluation,’ ‘Budget Planning and Implementation and Monitoring in ICAR,’ ‘Leadership Excellence,’ ‘Inspirational Leadership,’, ‘Procurement Management in ICAR,’ ‘Digital Platforms for Information and Knowledge Management,’ ‘Positive Thinking,’ and ‘ICAR Personnel Management.’
The participants in the EDP were the Directors of ICAR-ATARI, Pune and ATARI Patna, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata, ICAR-National Research Centre on Seed Spices, Ajmer, ICAR-Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune, ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, Ludhiana, ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirapalli, ICAR-National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, New Delhi and the Joint Director (Research) of ICAR-Indian Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology, Ranchi and the Joint Director, ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management, Raipur.
Dr Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM gave an overview of the EDP.
Drs S.K. Soam and Kalpana Sastry, ICAR-NAARM were the Programme Directors.
