NAHEP Academia-Industry-Government linkages for Quality Agricultural Education: 4th Consultative Workshop concludes at UAS, Bangaluru
ICAR-NAARM has organised 4th Consultative workshop on Academia-Industry- Government linkages for Quality Agricultural Education jointly with UAS, Bangalore at GKVK Campus, Bengaluru during November 06-07, 2019. This workshop has been organized with an attempt to get input for developing a framework to strengthen the relationship between 3 party’s i.e Academia (AUs), Industry and Government for improving quality of Agricultural Education. The Workshop was organized as a part of the World Bank sponsored National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) Component – 2A. Sixty participants representing Agri Universities, Industry and government belonging to Karnataka, Kerala and Jharkhand participated in the workshop.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of UAS Bangalore, Prof S Rajendra Prasad underscored the need to strengthening the relations between university, industry and government and highlighted efforts undertaken at UASB in this direction. He also asked the faculty of UASB to access more funds from industry for doing research as there is fund crunch in SAUs and this can be achieved by strengthening the relations which can be sustained only by having a permanent framework in place.
Dr VV Sumanth Kumar, Senior Scientist, ICAR-NAARM presented about the efforts undertaken as a part of NAHEP project and requested all the participants to be vocal and provide inputs for the permanent framework which will cater the needs of agri education requirements of the country. Prof Chinna Swamy, K P, Coordinator – PPMC & Nodal Officer- Agril Edn. to ICAR, UAS, Bangalore presented the synthesis of the all inputs provided by all 60 participants which was vetted by the house.
