Work Experience

Dr B. Ganesh belonged to 1999 batch of Agricultural Research Service of ICAR and served as a Scientist at Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair till 2007. Upon promotion as Senior Scientist, he joined National Institute of Agricultural Economics & Policy Research (NIAP), New Delhi where he worked on technology policy and markets & trade in agriculture for five years. Later, he moved to National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology & Disease Informatics (NIVEDI), Bengaluru in 2012. He worked as Principal Scientist in Agribusiness Management Division for 10 years till July 2023. He is currently the Head, Human Resource Management Division at the Academy. He is also the Principal Coordinator and Placement Coordinator for the PGDM-ABM programme here.

Some of his notable works were on Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI) in collaboration with IFPRI, Washington; Economic impact of FMD in collaboration with ILRI, Nairobi; Economic impact of Avian Influenza; and Socio-economic impact of tsunami in Andamans and preparation of State Development Report for A&N Islands; Exploring market opportunities in fisheries sector for the NFDB, GoI; Socio-economics of fishers for the DADF, MoA&FW, GoI; and Market outlook on finger millet under the consortium of Indo-Swiss Collaboration in Biotechnology.

He has handled more than 35 research projects so far and published about 70 research papers in national and international refereed journals, besides 150 other publications. He taught and guided more than 25 MBA/PGDM students from different universities, including NAARM. He was the two times recipient of ICAR Award for Outstanding Team Research in 2004 and 2010 in the disciplines of Animal Science and Social Science, respectively, besides recipient of Best Research Paper award twice from Agricultural Economics Research Association (India). He underwent advanced training on ‘Social Science Policy Research’ at ICARDA, Aleppo, Syria and on ‘Agricultural Education Policy Planning’ at Cornell University, Ithaca, USA as a Visiting Scientist. Besides, he went to Switzerland, South Korea, Thailand and Uganda on other professional assignments.
