Work Experience
Dr.B.Nirmala joined the Academy as Principal Scientist (Agricultural Business Policy) on January 22, 2024. She belongs to 2007 batch of Agricultural Research Service (80th FOCARS) of ICAR and served ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad till January 19, 2024. She got trained in ‘Food Value Chain Analysis’ in Thailand. She has conducted fourteen research projects related to various aspects of rice production technologies and has travelled to several states of India representing different rice ecologies. For these projects, she has surveyed, monitored, and collected the socio-economic data related to rice from thousands of farmers. She has worked closely with multidisciplinary teams and published seventy-two (72) research papers in journals of national and international repute, twenty-three (23) technical articles, fourteen books (14), thirty-three (33) book chapters (including three published by the International Rice Research Institute), seven (7) technical bulletins and twenty-two (22) training manuals. As Principal Investigator of the technology dissemination programs, organized 12,468 demonstrations across the country and enabled farmers to reduce the cost of cultivation. As a coordinator and associate, she has organized 51 training programs for different stakeholders in the rice sector. She has guided twelve students from different universities. She is the recipient of several awards including Dr R T Doshi Award for Best Research Paper from Agricultural Economics Research Association, Young Scientist Award from Society of Extension Education and Associate Fellow of Telangana Academy of Sciences.
