Work Experience
Dr. Dipesh Debnath worked as Scientist & Senior Scientist (Aquaculture) in ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, HQs (Barrackpore) and Regional Centre (Guwahati) from July 2008 till February 2024 before joining the Academy on 1st March, 2024. He contributed in seven Externally funded projects, three Inter-institutional projects and seven Institutional projects related to inland fisheries and aquaculture till date. He worked in the Laboratory of Aquaculture & Artemia Reference Center, Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University, Belgium as a DBT Overseas Associate (one year post-doctoral programme) sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. Before joining ICAR, he worked as Scientific Officer B in Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute for Fundamental Research, Mumbai for about one and half years. He was deputed in the Department of Seafood Research, Danish Institute for Fisheries Research, Copenhagen, Denmark for one month during his Ph.D. research work. He was awarded Sir Dorabji Tata Trust Scholarship in 2005 by ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai for being topper in the Ph.D. course curricula. Dr. Debnath was awarded Dr. N.R. Menon Best Postgraduate Thesis Award in 2005 by Professional Fisheries Graduates Forum, Mumbai. He was awarded Best Poster Award by Asian Fisheries Society Indian Branch (AFSIB), Mangalore in 2005. He was awarded Young Scientist Award by AFSIB, Mangalore in 2008. He is a life member of seven Professional Societies of India. Dr. Debnath has 57 research papers in International (41) and National (16) journals, 7 books, 37 book chapters, 14 training manuals, 99 popular articles, conducted 86 Trainings/ Workshops / Awareness programmes/ Seminars, one policy paper, several posters, technical bulletins and leaflets in his credit. He was awarded Life Fellow Award by the Coldwater Fisheries Society of India, Bhimtal, Uttarakhand in 2022.
