Work Experience

Dr. Reshma Gills began her professional career as an ARS Scientist at ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, in 2015. She subsequently joined ICAR–Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), where she served for seven years. In 2025, she took up the role of Senior Scientist in Extension Policy Management at ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM). She has worked in both theoretical and pragmatic areas of agricultural extension and policy across production systems and natural or common property resources, with a particular emphasis on designing and validating innovative extension models of national importance. Her expertise spans Entrepreneurship Management, Value Chain Analysis, Impact Assessment of NARES Technologies, Construction and Validation of Measurement Tools for Social Science Research, Gender Analysis, and Governance and Compliance Analysis in Common Property Management Systems, especially in marine fisheries, behavioural models for sustainable stewardship, the impacts of climate change on socio-ecological systems, etc. Among the innovative models he has developed or co-developed are the Co-Management Extension Model for Marine Fisheries Governance (Co-MEM4MFG), the Knowledge Value Chain Extension Model for better policy governance and compliance in marine fisheries, the Farmer Income Led Extension (FILE) Model employing convergence and multi-stakeholder approaches, the IARI-Post Office Linkage Extension Model (IPOLEM) designed to accelerate the delivery of IARI technologies, Competence Gap Analysis Approach (CGAA)-an innovative model for transformative competence gap measurement in education system and the Value Chain Development and Analysis Methodology, which extends beyond production to reduce post-harvest losses and enhance farmers’ incomes. She has been associated with postgraduate teaching as a faculty member at the Post Graduate School of ICAR–IARI and at Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS), Kerala, and has guided students at both the Master’s and Ph.D. levels.
