Work Experience
Dr. Suresh Kumar Mojjada is currently serving as a Senior Scientist in Information Communication Management Division at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad. Previously, he served as Chief Technical Officer (Mariculture) at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) until 2025, where he made significant contributions to research and development, technology transfer, and proven innovation in mariculture. Dr. Mojjada holds a Ph.D. in Biosciences, specializing in mariculture with seasoned experience in R&D, demonstration, and knowledge transfer in sustainable aquaculture and fisheries management.
With over 15+ years of domain-specific experience and expertise, Dr. Mojjada has carved a niche as a pacesetter in the development and implementation of cutting-edge mariculture technologies. His doctoral research in mariculture laid the foundation for several pioneering, sustainability-focused projects that have technological, social, and policy significance. A notable milestone in Dr. Mojjada’s career includes design and development of indigenous sea cage farming systems and seaweed cultivation technologies tailored to Indian seas, marking a transformative shift in Indian mariculture landscape. He played a key role in designing and implementing indigenous breakthrough-technologies for finfish, shellfish and seaweed production in open seas, Geospatial modelling, decision-making architectures and policy frameworks for enhancing mariculture efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. Remarkably, Dr. Mojjada is an inventor / co-inventor for securing a substantial number of 15 patents which includes industrial designs, technologies, methods and process and also Co-developer for 3 ICAR technologies / products and most of the IP portfolio developed are under commercialization or popularized. Dr. Mojjada has made key contribution in several policy formulations and developing managemental plans, including the amendment to the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) Bill-2023 for seaweed farming and NITI Aayog’s strategy document on the National Seaweed Mission. Dr. Mojjada has shouldered the responsibility as a Nodal Officer for a highest-priority, strategic mission project on Seaweed farming along the sensitive Indo-Pak border marine waters in Kutch, Gujarat which is being closely monitored by the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and periodically reviewed at the highest level by the Cabinet Secretary of India and also grassroot level coordinator for multi-agency strategic operations for the development of Indo-Pak border marine waters by using cutting-edge mariculture technologies unison with the Border Security Forces, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Forest, Dept. of Fisheries, Government of India and Government of Gujarat, other line agencies and state administration. Dr. Mojjada is one of the highly sought-after multi and transdisciplinary collaborator and an expert consultant to the Government of Gujarat, TATA Power, Adani Port and SEZ, and other leading corporates. He also serves as a technical advisor to mariculture farmers, entrepreneurs, industry and start-ups across the country and actively mentors emerging industry leaders for mariculture development.
Dr. Mojjada’s transformative research has been published in globally reputed, high-impact peer-reviewed journals with robust scientific and academic rigor that have been significantly influencing policy and technological adoption in mariculture sector. Dr. Mojjada has authored 27 research papers with sound scientific rigor, 6 books, 17 book chapters, 4 training manuals, 18 technical compilations / bulletins / reports, 12 popular articles, 2 international magazine stories, 1 managemental plans and policy, several posters and leaflets, 38 Trainings/ hands-on Workshops / Awareness programmes and 6 best paper awards in his credit. Apart from his core expertise consultative research and policy advocacy, Dr. Mojjada is currently focused on the ICAR flagship mission aimed at bridging science, society, and innovation through digital innovation, knowledge management, science communication strategies, technological breakthroughs and policy frameworks targeting diverse multi-sectoral stakeholder groups such as farmers, entrepreneurs, start-ups, industry, scientists, policymakers, line agencies, and institutions through advanced techno-scientific interventions and focusing on developing strategies and policy interventions for the ICAR ecosystem.
Teaching Experience
Dr. Mojjada is a visiting faculty and expert mentor for fisheries and aquaculture entrepreneurship development to Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad which is a National Resource Institute in entrepreneurship education, research and startup incubation. He is also, a visiting faculty to prestigious Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (URICM), Gandhinagar under the Institution of National Council for Co-operative Training, Government of India.
