150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi celebrations held during 26th Sep to 2nd Oct, 2019 along with Swachhta Hi Seva from 11th Sep to 2nd October, 2019 at ICAR-NAARM. As part of these celebrations many competitions on various activities of Swatchhta was held for school children, staff, students of the academy.

As a part of 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi a campaign was taken in the campus on single use plastic ban awareness was taken up by students and staff of the academy. The aim of the campaign is to create awareness among the residents of the campus not to use the plastic items which are used one time and also aims to achieve the vision of a clean India. In this series of activities, a handout / poster was developed on single use plastic ban @ ICAR-NAARM and distributed by the PGDMA students in the residents of quarters. The posters were also distributed among the outside workers, pedestrians walked through this region etc. The plastic waste collected was shifted to the assigned place for safe disposal and also requested every one not to use single use plastic items such as pet bottles, sachets, non-oven bags and thermocol plates etc. for clean India Mission.

Swachhta Hi Seva -2019 implemented at ICAR-NAARM during 11th September – 2nd October, 2019, which includes swachhata pledge, cleaning of the surroundings, plastic waste collection and awareness on negative aspects of single use plastics was taken up. Besides solid farm wastes being collected and sent for composting purpose involving staff of the NAARM, students of PGDMA and school children. The closing ceremony was on closing ceremony of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Mahatma Gandhi was organized on Oct. 2, 2019 forenoon. Dr A. Raghu Kumar, Advocate, Telangana State High Court was the chief guest, and delivered special lecture on Mahatma Gandhi’s Philosophy. He reviewed the literature on Gandhi decade by decade and its relevance in the present day context. Besides, he narrated the life of Gandhiji from his radical personality from younger days to how he evolved himself from the preaching of his guru Sri Raj Chand Bhai later. He reiterated the fact that many social movements in different countries of the world today are drawn from the philosophy of Gandhi. Dr Raghu urged the younger generations to understand Gandhiji by going through literature, and comprehend from which angle a book is being approached to Mahatma. Later he gave away certificates & Prizes to Winners in Essay writing, Quiz, Debate and Painting Competitions held for School Children. In his presidential address, Dr S.K. Soam, Joint Director, NAARM told that Gandhiji was a great communicator and he was the voice of people. He innovatively used then existing media of communication very effectively for mobilizing masses in various historical events of India’s independence struggle. Sri JNL Das, SAO proposed vote of thanks. NAARM faculty, Officers, Staff, Project staff, SSS and contractual staff participated in the event. Sri Muralidharan, Jt Director (Admn) and Registrar welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest.
