TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION- THE MANTRA FOR QUALITY EDUCATION

Smt V Usha Rani IAS, Director General, MANAGE emphasized that technology is playing a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of Agricultural Education. While delivering the valedictory address of a Training Workshop on Video and Computer Based Educational Materials Production, which was held at the Academy from 19-28, October, 2016, the Director General urged the faculty to be equipped well with development, production and publishing of e content, which is more relevant in the context of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). On this occasion, Dr R Kalpana Sastry, the Director of NAARM in her presidential address felt that proper blend between traditional and online teaching is essential for improving the quality of agricultural education. On this occasion, Smt V Usha Rani was appraised about recently established the state of art lab – Technology Enhanced Learning Laboratory, developed under Niche Area of Excellence of ICAR. The training programme was attended by 16 faculty members of four SAUs. The programme was coordinated by Dr D Thammi Raju and Dr S Senthil Vinayagam, Principal Scientists of the Academy.
